Moorlinch March for Mind

Event date

30th October 2016

I have organised a group walk from the village I live in, Moorlinch, to Glastonbury Tor and back again - a distance of approximately 20 miles. On Monday 29th August a group of us will march across the Somerset Levels to climb the Tor, in aid of Mind and in memory of my big brother Ian.

I can think of no better cause to fundraise for than Mind. As a family we initially started fundraising after Ian's suicide, nearly 5 years ago. However as time has gone on, we have all needed support in varying forms with our own mental health, as we deal with the fallout from such a tragedy. I feel I have very personal reasons now to fundraise for Mind, alongside remembering my precious brother.

Mental illness is catastrophic and devestating. The approach to mental health and the methods of supporting people who need help desperately needs a complete overhaul, but instead resources are being stripped away from some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Thank goodness for charities like Mind.
