London to Cambridge walk

3rd June 2017

On 2nd July 2016, I took part in Action Challenge's 100km (60 miles) walk from London to Cambridge.

Unfortunately I had to pull out at 70km (44 miles) because my body had had enough! I reached 70km after 14 hours of walking, by which time my blood sugar levels and blood pressure had dropped to a dangerious level.
I was so, so gutted to have not finished, but so many friends and family members provided reassurance that it was still a huge distance to have covered and that the cause is the most important thing.

I raised just over £1,520 thanks to the generosity of family, old friends, new friends, work colleagues, and complete strangers. Many of these donated after I shared the fact that I couldn't complete the challenge, which re-inforced Mind's mantra that it's okay to admit that you're struggling and to not push yourself to the point of breaking.

Both the training and the walk itself was phyiscally and emotionally draining, but I was so glad to raise so much for Mind and to have lots of really important conversations with people and Ian and Mind, and the importance of talking about mental health.

Thanks to everyone who donated and supported me through it.
