My favourite memory

Remembering the many wonderful and happy family holidays we enjoyed in both Cornwall and Florida.

This page is set up in memory of Paul (AKA Geoff) Williams, who was a much loved Son, Brother, Nephew, Cousin and Friend.

After completing his education at St. Edward's College, West Derby, Paul left his home city of Liverpool to study Graphic Design at Sheffield Hallam University; graduating with a Master’s Degree in November 2011. Since then he worked as a Graphic Designer and made a home for himself in Sheffield.

Paul was a keen musician, having played for Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in his early teens; before forming a band (The Alphites) along with four school friends. A few years on he joined the Liverpool band, 28 Costumes, as bass guitarist and toured Germany, Ireland and the UK, making many friends and happy memories along the way.

In recent months Paul was diagnosed with depression and despite seeking help from his GP, he took his own life on 4th August 2015. He was due to have an assessment with MIND six days later. Unfortunately for Paul, that was too little, too late.

In recent years Mental Health Trusts in England have seen their budgets fall by more than 8% in real terms. This reduction equates to a loss of almost £600m. This clearly indicates the need for charities such as MIND to step in and help where the Government has failed.

To many people Paul was creative, intelligent, humorous, caring and compassionate. He was quite the perfectionist, often working long into the night, designing posters for local gigs (free of charge of course!) This was just one of many examples of Paul's generosity and willingness to help others. In return, it is now our time to be generous and help others who are suffering with mental illness.
