My name is Dan and I live in Cornwall and I will admit to being an avid cyclist and last year I completed two rides for MIND – London to Paris and The London Prudential 100.
I came across Jessies Ride on the National Mind Cycling Page and found myself drawn to her story, as well as the aspirations and hopes around the ride. In particular the need to raise awareness and challenging stigma - issues I can emphasise with and are incredibly close to my heart.
I support, fundraise and volunteer for my local MIND here in Cornwall and I am a champion “for Time to Change” – which is an organisation which primarily challenges stigma and discrimination in suicide and mental health issues in the community.
Communicating with Cath I found that Jessica lived in Salisbury where I was born and raised, and whilst I fundraise for essential services to continue in my local area I am honoured to be riding this challenge to represent and promote the cause so close to all participating.
Jessies story is so important, it has touched me deeply and I strongly believe that we need to ensure that stories like hers and others are heard….for we are all stronger together….
